We met in May 2001 on a coach tour of northern Italy. We had both gone on the trip individually (two lonely souls). Believe it or not the first time we ever spoke was just before getting on a gondola in Venice. It was more or less the first activity of the trip and we got on so well that for the rest of the trip we were virtually inseparable. There were of course complications once we returned to England, with Greg living in Leeds and Jane in London it was only our intense desire to continue seeing each other that kept us together during that long-distance relationship.
It soon became obvious that we needed to move closer together and the lucky break came when Greg was transferred by his company to Bath in February 2002. We continued to make trips up and down the M4 for a few more months until in July 2002 Jane was able to move to Bath, and move in with Greg! Since then we have been living happily in Bath.
We got engaged in November 2003 during a holiday in America. We were in San Francisco on a cold and windy day overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge when Greg popped the question. Jane, of course, said yes.
Since then we have slowly (nearly 4 years!) planned the wedding, and that brings us to the present day.
For the first half of our honeymoon we will be returning to the site of our first ever meeting, Venice. We'll be spending a week there, relaxing, enjoying the city and - if we feel up to it - exploring the surrounding area too. For the second week we'll be exploring the Tuscany region of Italy, including some time in Florence and Pisa. We're not the sort of people who are able to spend too much time on a beach so, for us, we will be embarking on an ideal holiday.
